Introduction
The Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) in Engineering and Technology conducted by Atharva University, Mumbai is designed to assess the research aptitude, analytical capability, academic preparedness, and domain knowledge of candidates seeking admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme in Engineering and Technology.
The PET framework has been developed in alignment with:
- University Grants Commission (UGC) Regulations relating to Ph.D. Programmes;
- National Education Policy (NEP);
- Contemporary interdisciplinary and technology-enabled research standards;
- Academic integrity and responsible research practices;
- Industry-oriented and innovation-driven doctoral education.
The examination and admission process aim to identify candidates capable of undertaking high-quality independent research and contributing meaningfully to academia, industry, policy, entrepreneurship, and society.
Objectives of the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET)
The objectives of PET are to:
- Assess research aptitude and scholarly orientation.
- Evaluate conceptual understanding in Engineering and Technology.
- Examine analytical, quantitative, logical, and interpretive skills.
- Identify candidates capable of conducting original and ethical research.
- Promote interdisciplinary and technology-enabled research competencies.
- Ensure quality standards in doctoral admissions as prescribed by UGC.
Admission
Admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall be conducted through the following stages:
Route A – National Eligibility/Fellowship Examination Candidates
Candidates qualifying examinations such as UGC-NET, JRF, SET/SLET, CSIR-NET, GATE,
CEED, or equivalent examinations may be exempted from PET and shall appear directly for the
interview process.
Route B – Atharva University, Mumbai PET Candidates
Candidates not covered under exemption categories shall appear for the Atharva University,
Mumbai Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET).
